On the Breeze

The installation uses text and sound recordings to document Kahn's interaction with the landscape of Appenzell through vocal interventions. Inspired by the tradition of the Alpine blessing, Kahn explores the geographical and cultural topography of Appenzell with his voice. In various places - on the mountain, in the field, in the village, in the forest, by the river - he tries to find a dialog and an engagement with the surroundings through his voice. Jason Kahn (* 1960 NY) is a musician, artist and writer. He came to Europe in 1990 and has lived in Zurich since 2000. As an electronic musician, vocalist and percussionist, Kahn often works in improvised settings as well as within the framework of graphic scores that he composes for specific groups. He exhibits his installations in an art context. These focus on the idea of space: its conceptual and physical nodes, its production and dissolution, and our relationship to space as a political, social and environmental medium. Kahn also composes sound pieces for radio, film, dance and theater. He has also designed numerous covers. As an author, he writes books, articles and liner notes for audio publications. In 2011, he founded the Editions label for his text and sound works.
